Willow Cottage: a single-storey cottage for four beside the moat

Willow Cottage is the smallest of our three, and everything is on one floor. It's popular with couples (with or without a dog) and with small families. When a larger group books all three cottages, it's often where the grandparents stay for a little peace and quiet.

Inside

Willow is beamed throughout, with an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room at its centre and a bedroom at each end. One bedroom has a super king bed, which can be made up as two singles, and a view over the moat. The other is a twin. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over it.

The hot tub

The view from the hot tub is the thing our guests comment on most at Willow. It sits on the patio looking straight across the moat, so at any time of day you can watch the wildlife on the water. That sometimes includes a kingfisher and, very occasionally, an otter.

The history of the cottage

Willow Cottage was built in the 19th century and was last used for rearing pigs before we converted it. You'll find the story of the Hall and its barns on our History page, and more about our family and the land we farm on The Farm page.

Out and about from Willow

Willow makes a good base for walking. Footpaths cross the farm, and Combs Wood, a Suffolk Wildlife Trust reserve, is within ten minutes' drive. For days further afield, from the farm trail and café at Hollow Trees to fish and chips in Aldeburgh, have a look at our Things to do page.

Recently updated

Over the last few years we've fitted a new kitchen, a new bathroom and a new hot tub, and redecorated throughout.

Good to know

Willow doesn't have a wood burner or a dishwasher. There's one small step at the front door, where we can fit a ramp if you let us know in advance. One well-behaved dog is welcome for a £25 supplement, and if you'd like to bring more, just ask us.

If you're looking for a break at short notice, Willow is a good place to start. Any late booking discounts are shown on the booking page.

Our second visit. Stayed in Willow Cottage this time. It certainly didn't disappoint. Love all the extra touches: biscuits, milk, toiletries etc.
