Wattisham Hall Holiday Cottages
We're Jo and Jeremy Squirrell, and we run Wattisham Hall Holiday Cottages. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you enquire, book a stay or visit this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
We look after your information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
Nobody logs in to this website. We don't offer accounts, so we never ask you for a password or keep an online profile for you.

Wattisham Hall Holiday Cottages is run by K.E. Knock and Co, which is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. Our address is Wattisham Hall, The Green, Wattisham, Ipswich, Suffolk IP7 7JX.
If you have any questions about your information, email us at enquiries@wattishamhall.co.uk or call 01449 740240.

We only collect what we need to answer your questions and look after your stay:
When you enquire by email or phone: your name, your contact details and anything you tell us about the stay you're planning.
When you book: the lead guest's name, address, email and phone number, the dates and cottages you've chosen, the size of your party, and anything you tell us to help us prepare, such as cots, dietary needs, access needs or bringing a dog. Bookings are made through our booking system, SuperControl.
When you pay: card payments are handled securely by our booking system's payment provider. We never see or keep your full card number.
When you visit this website: small amounts of technical information through cookies, as explained in section 5.
We don't use contact forms, accounts or log-ins on this website, and we don't buy personal information from anyone else.
3
The law asks us to have a reason, called a lawful basis, for each use of your information. Ours are:
To manage your booking (contract): confirming your stay, taking payments, returning your damage deposit and getting the cottage ready for you.
To answer your enquiries and run the cottages (legitimate interests): replying to your questions, keeping the cottages safe and improving this website.
To keep proper records (legal obligation): for example, the accounts and tax records HMRC requires.
To send you news and offers (consent): only if you've told us you'd like them. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, or you can just let us know.
We don't use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

We never sell your information. We only share it when we need to:
SuperControl, which runs our online booking system and payments
Our accountant, our email provider and the people who look after this website, who only use it to provide their services to us
Vacation Rentals (UK) Ltd, a group of independent cottage owners we belong to, but only if you've agreed to hear about their properties
The police or other authorities, if the law requires us to
Some of these providers may store information outside the UK. Where they do, they must protect it to the standard UK law requires.

Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. When you first visit, a banner lets you choose which cookies to allow.
Necessary cookies make the website work and remember your cookie choice. These are always on.
Booking cookies are set by SuperControl on our booking page so that you can check availability and book.
Analytics cookies, such as Google Analytics, tell us how many people visit and which pages they read. We only use these if you accept them.
You can change your choice at any time with the cookie button in the bottom corner of the screen, or block cookies in your browser settings.

Enquiries that don't lead to a booking: up to two years, in case you get in touch again
Booking and payment records: six years after the end of the tax year, as HMRC requires
Your details for news and offers: until you unsubscribe

This website uses a secure (SSL) connection, and we only use well-established providers for bookings, payments and email. Only the two of us, and the people who help us run the cottages where they need it, can see your details.
No system is completely secure, but if something did go wrong that put your information at risk, we'd tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office where the law requires.

You have the right to:
ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
ask us to correct anything that's wrong
ask us to delete your information, where we don't need to keep it by law
ask us to limit how we use it
object to us using it, including for marketing
ask for your information in a format you can pass to someone else
withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it
To use any of these rights, email enquiries@wattishamhall.co.uk. There's no charge, and we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Our pages link to other websites, such as places to visit and eat nearby. They have their own privacy policies, and we're not responsible for how they use your information.
