Sleeps 7 | 4 bedrooms | 2 bathrooms
Tithe Barn has four bedrooms, and because two of them and both bathrooms are on the ground floor, it's a good choice for families travelling with older relatives or anyone who'd rather avoid the stairs. It also works well for two families sharing, or for a group of friends.

Sleeps 7 in 4 bedrooms, with 2 bathrooms
Private hot tub and charcoal barbecue on a fenced patio by the moat
Wood burner, with firewood included
Open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room, with a dishwasher
Double and single bedrooms on the ground floor
One well-behaved dog welcome
Most of the ground floor is one large, open room for cooking, eating and relaxing by the wood burner in the evening, and it's our favourite part of the barn. The dining table looks across the courtyard towards the play area, so you can linger over a coffee while keeping an eye on the children. French doors lead out to a fenced patio with the hot tub and barbecue, overlooking the moat.
On the ground floor there's a double bedroom and a small single, with a shower room and a large family bathroom close by. The bathroom has a view across the moat.
A narrow, winding staircase takes you past a section of the original lath and plaster wall, which was made with horse hair, and up to two more bedrooms with sloping ceilings. One has a super king bed, which can be made up as two singles, and looks out towards the village church. The other is a twin.
If you're booking more than one cottage, we can set up an extra table and chairs in Tithe Barn so that your whole party can eat together. There's no charge, and it seats 16 comfortably, or all 19 at a squeeze. Please ask when you book, or at least a week before you arrive, so that we can have it ready for you.

Tithe Barn dates from the 17th century, when it was used as a hay loft and cattle byre. It's one of three old farm buildings we converted into holiday cottages, which opened at Easter 2005. There's more about the Hall and its buildings on our History page, and about our family and the working farm around you on The Farm page.
Bury St Edmunds, the best town in Suffolk in our opinion, is half an hour's drive away, with its cathedral, its history and plenty of places to eat and drink. Jimmy's Farm and the walks at Ickworth are both within forty minutes too. You'll find all our recommendations, with drive times from our gate, on our Things to do page.
Over the last few years we've fitted a new kitchen and a new hot tub, refurbished the downstairs bathroom and redecorated throughout.
Both bathrooms are on the ground floor, so there isn't one upstairs, and the staircase is narrow and winding. There's a step up into the shower and one step at the front door, where we can fit a ramp if you let us know in advance. One well-behaved dog is welcome for a £25 supplement, and if you'd like to bring more, just ask us.
